In a world where everyone struggles to survive whatever the cost, how could one judge those who decide to die? This quote is a radical defense of suicide. Some people have the courage to choose death over life if it means they will suffer less. They have a right to that choice because none of us have a right to any of our own decisions. We all make choices based on our circumstances and nothing more.
There is no way we can know what a person is thinking in the moment of their death. Sometimes it seems like anybody who chooses suicide deserves their fate, but I don’t think that’s true. Everyone has a right to do with their own life what they choose, and no one has the right to judge them for it.
